 Nov 1st-?, 2011-?. A trailer: fromthroughto on podio.com.

June 24-26th, 2011. A scenario arranged by David Hilmer Rex.

Introductory note:
A scenario

A person wanting to voice a critique of how the stock market works would probably do so by putting forward a set of arguments in a newspaper, on a blog, on his twitter profile, in a direct discussion or by other means available. Knowledge is accumulated in the form of a commentary, a proposal on how the object of study might alter for the better. All of this has a name, a tradition, a recognizable infrastructure and we reckon with that. But, what if this person were to create a new stock market slightly altered as a result of his knowledge and critique of the first stock market? What is the name of that activity, gesture, act or job in which the critique or commentary, is reinserted and folded into a similar entity as that which initially were the object of critique or commentary?

April 11th, 2011. Talk by Steve Kado.

3/4 Scale model of issue #12 of October Magazine, originally published in spring 1980. Edition of 30.

Steve Kado will be giving a short artist talk about some recent work.
If the success of a model depends on it's resemblance to a source then how much less than the thing itself does a model have to be? If a model is always something like it's source isn't it always also something more, namely a model? The argument, I suppose, is that a model is more in total than anything it could represent: it has to be both an abstraction of another thing (1>model) and it's own thing in it's own right (1). That's the math. A model of a thing is probably 1 1/2 times more of a thing than the whole original thing.

Steve was born in Toronto in 1980 but has lived in Los Angeles for the last few years. His works and presentations have been exhibited/shown widely, including at Tate Britain, The Department of Safety, National Gallery of Denmark, Mercer Union and Machine Project.

Full press material.

As you will find out, so many stories and problems coincide in this specific location. In the context of Copenhagen the negative shape of this location, imagined as a public, conjures up a fantastic image. This image is what you are currently reading. Its interior structure will materialize itself the 22nd of June 17:00 in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Jens Casper and Realarchitektur, the company which he founded in 2003 together with Petra Petersson, worked from 2004 to 2007 on the conversion and extension of the Reichsbahnbunker Friedrichstrasse in Berlin, to serve both as a home for Christian Boros and his family and furthermore as an exhibition space for his art collection, Sammlung Boros. This location and the story of how it came about will be the object of the presentation by Jens Casper.

The full press material for the event will serve as an introduction to Sammlung Boros and Jens Casper. If you plan to attend the presentation, please take your time to read it. Furthermore, as the space is limited, sign up is required: write an email to email@fromthroughto.com before the 15th of June 2010.

The presentation will take place at Svinget 3, 2300 Copenhagen S, 17:00, the 22nd of June, 2010 and will be held in English. The presentation is organized by fromthroughto and is supported by The Royal Danish Art Academy and Meinertz A/S.

Managing Director, Søren Clausen writes the following about their involvement:
MEINERTZ is a sparring partner and supplier to the most innovative architectural practices in Denmark, and this success is spreading to Europe and the USA. We can translate the ideas of architects into unique design solutions - we speak the same language.

We are happy to be involved from the very beginning, so that we can assess the situation and take measurements on-site. We take responsibility. We follow up. That was also the case with project "Kunstbunker" in Berlin, where we had a sublime cooperation with the architect, Jens Casper. The early involvement and competent cooperation resulted in realization of Jens Casper's ideas for a product solution for heating up both the bunker and the private penthouse.

The realization of the architect's ideas was based on the uniqueness's of MEINERTZ; Flexibility, systematically organized, sophisticated production equipment, built to ensure efficient production of individual solutions, new technology, combined with a tradition of more than 70 years of good old-fashioned craftsmanship and professional pride. Handpicked staff that show a level of responsibility and respect that guarantees the quality of even the smallest detail.
All the best
